New York

Whether you want a quick weekend getaway while feeling international, or the dual scenery of city and nature, think of the ever-evolving Big Apple! As one of the most visited cities in the world and the cultural epicenter of the U.S.— as well as Frank Sinatra’s best muse—, New York is dynamic and special to international and local travelers alike, with no two visits being the same. As my son’s family and I’ve just returned from my umpteenth visit to the City That Never Sleeps to watch my son run in the New York City Marathon, I know what it’s like to craft a vacation that fulfills everyone’s needs and interests. The diversity lends to enriching vacations that are sure to please anyone in your family: sporty, fashion-forward, foodie, artsy, and nature-loving alike!

Lodging

As they say in real estate, location, location, location... and in New York it couldn't be more true.  With over 700 hotels, the selection can be overwhelming.  I find it best to break the selection process down by "location".  Times Square is a major tourist area in Midtown also known as the entertainment hub - convenient for many going to the theatre.  Lower Manhattan, also known as Downtown Manhattan, is the southernmost part of Manhattan, the central borough for culture (and business).  Did you know George Washington and many of the Founding Fathers commonly frequented the Fraunces Tavern® on Pearl Street - a tavern that is older than the country itself? A visit here is a favorite thing to do for many in Lower Manhattan.  Brooklyn on the other hand, will make you think you are much further from Manhattan than a quick 12-minute subway ride.  My son opted for Brooklyn when visiting New York last month enjoying the restaurants and shops without being shoulder to shoulder with everyone.  What's your style?

Manhattan (Mid & Upper)

Selected Midtown and Upper Manhattan properties:
  • Carlyle Rosewood* (5 ★) - Offers a first-class combination of discretion and grace, with views of Central Park and the Manhattan skyline.  It's surrounded by galleries and designer boutiques on Madison Avenue, and only blocks from the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Guggenheim, and the Frick
  • The Peninsula New York* (5 ★) - Located on the iconic Fifth Avenue, she's as glamorous as they come with residence-style rooms and suites.  Thanks to its idyllic address, Rockefeller Center, Broadway, and high-end boutiques are just outside your front door.
  • Intercontinental New York Barclay (4.5 ★) -  Embraces Park Avenue residential style - classic, yet contemporary. Just steps away you'll find the best New York has to offer: Rockefeller Center, Central Park, the Theatre District, Fifth Avenue, and so much more.

Manhattan (Lower)

Selected Downtown / Lower Manhattan properties:
  • The Greenwich Hotel (5 ★) - Provides a high-end pied-a-terre in the trendy Tribeca neighborhood. No two of its 88 rooms and suites are alike.  The design pays particular homage to fine craftsmanship, and much of the woodwork is reclaimed.
  • The Beekman (5 ★) - The 1883 Temple Court building is now one of the city's trendiest destinations thanks to a high-end design vibe that wraps Persian rugs around the front desk and curio-filled bookcases around the atrium's Bar Room.
  • Casa Cipriani (4.5 ★) - Once a Beaux-Arts-style ferry terminal, Casa Cipriani New York is a revitalized spectacular property with 47 rooms and suites and a private membership club in Manhattan's chic Lower Manhattan. Many of the rooms and suites feature a balcony overlooking the Brooklyn Bridge and Statue of Liberty.

Brooklyn

Selected properties in Brooklyn:
  • 1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge (5 ★) - Offering "industrial-chic" touches, each of the 195 rooms and suites features floor-to-ceiling windows. The hotel offers expansive outlooks over the Manhattan skyline and East River.
  • The Hoxton Williamsburg (4 ★) - The Hoxton, known for its open-house hotels opened its first U.S. based property in Brooklyn, with The Hoxton Williamsburg.  The former factory of Rosenwach water towers offers magnificent views of the city and a rooftop dining experience not to miss  at Laser Wolf.
* Special amenities for many of our New York partners when booked with me, as well as an extensive list of NYC's best restaurants through my personal contact.
